GZAGA Rules, Regulations, Etiquette
Sterling Hills Golf Club has several policies in place to maintain the integrity of the course and to promote safety and goodwill among golfers.
National Tournament Rules, (El Campeon Trophy)
It is the responsibility of every pairing to attest that groups score in order to crown our true champion and to maintain the integrity of our tournament.
Every player must Tee off from the WHITE (Regular) tees.
The highest score any player can achieve is 3 X PAR of a hole. PAR 5’s = 15, PAR 4’s = 12, PAR 3’s = 9. If any player wants to quit or skip a hole, he may do so by scoring himself with the highest score for that given PAR.
Score cards must be completely filled out or pairings will be disqualified.
Winner; Stroke play
A stroke-play competition consists of competitors completing each hole of a stipulated round or rounds and, for each round, returning a scorecard on which there is a gross score for each hole. Each competitor is playing against every other competitor in the competition.
The competitor who plays the stipulated round or rounds in the fewest strokes is the winner.
Failure to Hole Out
If a competitor fails to hole out at any hole and does not correct his mistake before he makes a stroke on the next teeing ground or, in the case of the last hole of the round, before he leaves the putting green, he is disqualified.
Absolutely NO MULLIGANS or GIMMES allowed. This is our CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Hitting the Wrong Ball
Every player must play his own shot. The CAMPEON Championship is not a SCRAMBLE format. Everyone should mark their own ball. A 2 shot penalty is assessed if a player hits the wrong ball. Players can only pick up their ball on the green and not on the fringe.
Bunkers & Sandtraps
Bunkers: Grounding your club is not allowed. If a player grounds his club in a hazard a 2 shot penalty is assessed.
Relief
Play your BALL where it lies. There is NO relief from natural hazards (i.e. tree, bushes and divots). Relief is allowed on artificial hazards (cart paths, sprinkler heads and painted white grass circle hazard) 1 club length back, nothing closer, nearest point of relief.
Water Balls
Players who hit balls in water must play their next shot from point of entry and be penalized 1 stroke; 1 club length nothing closer to the hole from nearest point of relief.
Lost Balls & Out of Bounds
Lost and out of bounds shots are penalized 2 shots and ball must be played from the nearest point where it went out of bounds or lost and agreed upon by foursome, 1 club lengths nothing closer. Apply the 5 minute maximum rule for lost balls.
Final Rulings
If a discrepancy, impasse or uncertainty on any ruling occurs, take note of incident and immediately inform Golf Czar. Golf Czar’s Ruling is FINAL!!!
Stroke Play Tie: Will be resolved by a sudden death playoff beginning with the 1st or 9th hole. (Based on availability).
