This year GZAGA has selected to Honor Leo Cortez (Beta FF), as Grand Marshal for the 2010 tournament; a brother who’s dedication and commitment to the organization is unparalleled and who has played an integral role in the growth of GZAGA!
GZAGA has also decided to utilize the golf tournament to annually spotlight a brother. This year GZAGA has selected to Honor Jorge Avila (Alpha Gamma) as our Inaugural Grand Marshal for the 2009 tournament. A brother with integrity and respect, whose dedication has been instrumental in the establishment of the Delta Chapter.
I am writing to thank everyone who participated in the National Golf
Tournament for 2009 and to post the final scores. These scores are also
used to rank everyone which are performance based and will be used for the
pairings for our 2010 event.
I am proud to announce that the 2009 winner of the “El Campeon” Trophy with
a Final Round score of 89 is Gamma Zeta Alpha Founding Father Hector
Curiel.
Hector returned this year with an increase level of focus, course knowledge,
a yearlong dedication of practice and hard work that paid off for him as he
outperformed the remaining Gammas. Congratulations Hector!!!
This year was a great success in that our competitive field turned out
golfers from all over the Gamma Golf Nation. This years field had some of
the best golfers if not the best Gamma Golfers. The National Golf
Tournament was established to find out who is the best Gamma Golfer and our
Golfer of the Year.
The tournament is open to only Gammas in good standing with GZAGA. This is a
Brothers ONLY Event as membership should have its privileges. Furthermore,
those of you who attended can attest that the Brotherhood and reunion like
atmosphere at the awards ceremony and sushi bar were at optimal levels.
I also want to thank George Avila (Alpha Gamma) who did a great job as our
inaugural Grand Marshall. Next years Grand Marshall as announced at the
awards ceremony will be Leo Cortez (Beta FF).

site updates and future golf out tings that GZAGA will be planning to Torrey
Pines, Las Vegas, Pebble Beach and Chico.
Finally, I want to give a special thanks to our Communications and
Logistics Director, Jose Corral (Delta FF) for his unwavering spirit and for
being the link from you guys to GZAGA.
Hopefully, with your continued support, the National Tournament can continue
to grow in the years to come.
